With these long winter months and heating keeping us nice and warm, our skin is our biggest organ that holds our beautiful selves together! Distressing our skin from one temperature to another we should give back some thanks by starting this year with a fresh approach.

Here are some handy tips and advice to get you started on bringing out that inner glow.

Tip 1. Eat healthily—Diet is an absolute essential to healthier looking skin , eat a diet that is rich in anti oxidants, packed with fresh fruit and green vegetables and plenty of fresh water.

Tip 2. Cleanse, tone and moisturise—By not having a regular 3 step routine a dullness in complexion can occur and pores can become clogged.

All started with a Sunday in the shop Me, Emma, Rian and lots and lots of glitter and Polystyrene Reindeers Snow flakes and stars, with so much happy smiles, untill the Reindeers antlers kept on braking and glued the snow flakes together Ahhhhh, we were all covered in glitter, not the best look to have. So we dropped the glitter and went to the winelodge for a large glass of wine and some lunch, when we went back hoping the Reindeers where dry, but oh NO!!

So we gave up on the glitter and started to dress the tree,

which was alot easier !!!!!

But it was all worth it we had so much fun,

and got in to the christmas spirit,

I got into the spirit a bit to much with to much wine.

These pictures show the finished results, which we have had some lovely feedback from our clients, and even the passing by dogs seem to be enjoying watching our train going round and round.

Bare minerals ...AND AWAY WE GLOW

One of our favourite sets so far!

This 9 peice set And away we glow is absolutley fantastic value for money. We were all soooo excited when these new kits arrived in at the shop i couldnt wait to open it. Very fancy red packaging sweet for xmas.

Me needing some serious making over.

First i perfected my skin with bareminerals foundation original ( not included in set)
then i got to start playing :) eeeek

Prime time primer shadow in dove grey -pea sized amount ideal for both lid, lightly blended a small amount all over each my lid to create base and prolong the shadow.

Eye colour in swanky - Love the name of this shadow! Frosty white with pink and gold flecks so shimmery almost looks like water on the eye as it catches the light, perfect for those christmas nights out under the twinkly fairy lights, I used the shadow brush included and gently placed a small amount over and blended out, Better to have small amount on brush and build it up.

Round the clock water proof eyeliner black - Super soft and gentle on the eyes yet easy to apply, waterproof - this isnt going anywhere! tip work quickly when blending tends to set fairly quick but sets the eyes off amazingly.

Luxury blush - gives a real fresh natural dewy glow apply with contour blush brush included, feels as soft as silk on my cheeks, makes me look and feel like im glowing from within.

Turn on multi tasking highlighter - I applied this to the top of my cheek bones and lightly on the top of my brow bone so that when the light catches me i look healthy and dewy :)

Flawless Definition mascara- does exactly what it sais on the label! wand is perfect for really getting in there and adding length and defining your lovely lashes

Pretty Amazing lip gloss in flair - Wow this is PRETTY AMAZING gives the colour pigments of a lip colour but the shine of a gloss. i was expecting this to be a little sticky if im honest but its so sheer and comfortable to wear doesnt get on my teeth either which i was pleased about : D - lip stick free smile! woo

Pixi Beauty - Pure Natural Love

I introduced a make up artist friend of mine (Maria) to this brand, gosh it has to be a good few years ago now. They first opened just over 10 years ago with their flagship store in London Soho just off Carnaby Street. I remember the first time I entered the store I met a lady called Amanda who at that time worked at the store but introduced herself as PR and happens to be one of the leading forces behind the brand together with owner and make up artist of more than 20 years Petra Strand and developed this very unsung make up hero in my eyes. The brand more recently is gaining momentum and you will notice it now more more in the likes of Elle, Vogue, Marie-Claire and celeb endorsements etc.

I have key ones I use, but I have always loved their concept. I needed a replacement for some Pout products and Pixi fitted that with its kitch quirky girliness but also products that also worked day to day that were not from the normal department stores or your local Superdrug or Boots - however the have now gone into some larger Boots Stores ..... I screamed a big FAT NOOooo what are you doing ... wwwwhhhhyyy!!!! it so didnt work for Jemma Kidd Make Up it seems so wrong for them to be there in my eyes but thats because I see it bigger than Boots, it could be and will be I am sure a brand that will be as great as Stila and Becca, nice niche make up brand that offer something for the everyday woman with class and definitive quality.

I was happy when Maria said she was going to stock Pixi as I mean I did introduce her to it and I knew it would be a hit for her and I now want to let you know about the key pieces I believe you should try from Pixi Beauty.

Voluptuous Lashes Mascara - I had been losing my lashes as I was trying so many I think my lashes freaked out!!! I decided to try Pixi's mascara nourishing mascara which promotes thick, healthy lashes and rich in colour and I am a mascara fiend I have hundreds in so many colours I could set up a mascara website... oooh maybe I should, well back to the mascara, it does proved great colour and is rich and has helped replenish my lashes. I particularly like the silicone lash wand never over loads and gathers at the end like alot of them and provides my lashes with great coverage and length. I layer colour quite alot as I love rich dark voluptuous lashes... oooh just like the name and this is one I will be keeping in my kit and my own make up bag. Fragrance and paraben free, 100% natural active complex which contains 2 forms of plant Alge which helps stimulate lash growth. Suitable for the most sensitive eyes. £14.00

Next up is the Flawless Finishing Powder, I only recently well in the last month started to used this in No.0 Translucent (the only one they have at the mo) I do also wear Chanels' Vita Lumiere foundation and wanted a powder that gave me lasting coverage but didn't diminish the luminosity from my foundation this powder compact I would say is a good contender at the moment for me. It comes in the Pixi apple green colour compact that has a little draw where the sponge applicator lives and it has a cute frame design on the mirror in the compact, makes you kind of really look at your face more not in a vain way well not me anyway, I am sure there are many out there .... you know who you are! I mean I like checking myself (we are all a little vain)and others out and I hate shine and I mean real shine not the appropriate luminous dew look which I generally have on every day, love being dewy. This powder provides the coverage I need smooth, not at all cakey or leave, develop a creased talc layer after a hour or so, and doesn't throughout the day build up in the areas you dont want it to like in those areas when you reach my age lines have decided to appear, so all in all at the mo it is a hit wth me. It contains skin benefical ingredients like Mala’kite which is a semi-precious stone rich in copper, heals, protects, helps reverse signs of ageing, Hyaluronic Acid to help plump up fine lines, Vit E thickens skin and improves elasticity others to help protect you skin against pollution and retain moisture. £16.00

The final key product I am going to mention, I do use alot myself and do have in my kit is the Pixi Sheer Base Foundation, for all skin types but I would caveate that as this is not a brand for darker skin tones. I have dehydrated skin like many of us and this really works for me but I do use a great moisturiser and Primer (Pixi's). I have heard many people say that they believe it is similar to Chanels Vita Lumiere, just not as luminous but still provides you with a healthy glow, natural finish, I would tend to agree with that comment. For shoots I layer it for more coverage but as an everyday foundation it goes on super easy, blends well and sinks into the skin evening out your skin tone and easy to build up where required. I use No.2 at the moment and mix it with No.3 when I have abit more colour. I generally apply with a foundation brush and them smooth over with my fingertips as this personally works for me and it generally lasts all day for me which is what we all want so win win there Ms Pixi! I will not be without this in my own make up bag. £23.00

Are you a Good or Bad Sleek Make Up Girl?

We all love them, I dont think I have met a person yet who doesn't have a Sleek Make Up palette - I have them all but thats because I am luck and get to test stuff and see if they are worthy LOL! No really we all love colour some more than others and some are afraid of it and dont want to spend money on the likes of Illamasque, MAC, Make Up Store so this is where the likes of Sleek Make Up come in....

I remember when they first came out and I was having a good chat while on a shoot on what we all thought of this brand and will it work etc. Well what do you know Collection 2000 eat your heat out... Sleek Make Up has become known on the high street for there reasonably priced palletts and slowly but surely for there rich in colour lipsticks, they are going from strength to strength with beautiful collections and palettes.

So which one are you? a Good or Bag gal lover?

Bad Gal i-divine Palette
This as with all is a highly pigmented, soft touch eye shadow palette with 12 shades a mix of their pearlescent and matte shades sitable for all eyecolours and skin tone perfect for us all.

I am liking the shade Gullible, beautiful as a day to day lid wash and great for a base for that sexy smokey eye. Abyss a deep blue a lovely deep blue in colour, shame that Obnoxious is very similar in colour, but then again if you run out of Abyss you have the other!, Underground is another one of my favs in this versitile pallette a deep pearlesent slate in colour tuely bag girl in coulour allowing you to bring out the devious sultry side in you, how wonderous is that....

Good Girl Limited Edition Pallette
This a fairy cupcake girlie girl fun packed palette full of gorgeous pinks and peaches, alot more daring in colour for the lighter skin tones but still totally on trend for S/S and useable from light to dark application and great a blusher as I found out on a shoot the other day. I feel all happy and like Barbie when I open up this palette definately a must have even if it is just to make you smile.

Beacuse it is Limited edition there are not many left now but click here and visit Glam.R or call 01502 565121 and Maria or Millie will sort you out anything you want including the palette of complete girliness.

So which one am I well I have to go with Bad Gal, one because I am and I love the pallete so much for its versitility and the fact anyone of any tone can use this palette, and lets just say I will be needing another one soon so unlike its lovely limited edition counterpart this one is a true keep. My only thing is I would like to see a couple more matte colours in there but hey thats me just being picky.

Enjoy and don't forget there is also the limited edition Sparkle palette available... personaly not sure the palette name reflects the spectrum of colours but loving Misletoe and Twinkle. Well done again to Sleek I am a fan thats for sure so keep watching this high street make up love carefully, be great if they could get their foundations as great as their colour palettes.

Fancy feeling abit Moroccan...

...then have I got the product for you ... yeah yeah I know it has been in lots of mags and online but Maria has been going on about Moroccan Oil for so long I thought I would see what all they hype was about...the Maria hype and if you know Maria you know what I am talking about!!!!

So rather than just the normal try and test I have used this a number of times now as I am quite particular about what I use on my hair and I now feel I am ready to let you know what I feel about the supposed AMAZING product.

I have been trying out three of the Moroccan Oil Collection - Moisture Repair Shampoo, Conditioner and Moroccan Oil Treatment.

The shampoo certainly does create a nice creamy lather gently cleansing your hair while infusing it, with a most beautiful smell that I am still trying to associate to something from my childhood ... anyway I have noticed since now using it a few times I am now easily getting my fingers through my hsire even after shamppoing (if you saw my hair you would understand why I states this fact! (my BF nick names me bush head) so just on that the shampoo has won me over as well as the fact that people I have been working with lately have all been commenting on the shine on my hair ... bonus.

Now the conditioner - I am a conditioner fiend as I like most people have died my hair and have highlights all the time. I mean my hair was so bad the hairdresser took a whole 5 inches off the last time I was there and I to be honest as you do try everything you can to make those pesky ends feel lovely and mose of all look as smooth as the rest of my locks!

Please dont do what I do and soak your hair in conditioner it really doesn't help and with this one you definately do not need alot about a 5-10p size depending on your length of hair as it does instatly smooth your hair, my fingers enjoyed the ease of movement and it will be great for my pocket as I wont be spending for a while on a conditioner as I will definately bee keeping this one in my bathroom cupboard.

Now the Moroccan Oil Treatment - my first experience of this was when I got soaked in the hail stone rain we had the other week and Maria put some in my hand to at least make me feel better as my hair was wet...drowned is more the word I would use and visiting make up stores looking like a drowned rate was not what I was looking for...so thank you Maria for saving me from my bush head that would have definately appeared if I had not had it placed in my hands. It certainly made me feel better and my hair did not become a frizz ball. I have the small bottle version now and use it generally once a week to help tame my hair and provide it ith added protection, again you only need a small amount concentrating on your damaged ends and frizz, it leaves no residue so feels like it instantly absorbs which is nice as you know its soaked into that dry air of yours, so in turn doing its job!

If you want....who am I fooling; we all want lucious locks whatever length as we all want Cheryl Cole's hair; then definately try something from the collection and its is also nice to have something that is free of sulphates, phosphates and parabens, and super creamy.

Vodka with that please.....

So as we all do, there is that bottle of vodka sitting in your cupboard, of course its always a new one.... we I always have loads of vodka happens to be a fav of mine for so many reasons and this is one of them!

So those pesky pimples have decided to show and you are now not only cursing how much you ate over the festive period, I mean it is January the tourture yourself month! Fear not i have a little trick that I read about a few years ago that works wonders.... using the rest of the lemon juice dab with a cotton pad onto the pimple to dry it out, reduce size and time it happens to be on that beautiful face of yours - its so works and I totally live by it, natural love for your skin ready for all that beautiful product....

How to time!
Mix a quarter of a cup with juice of one lemon, now you should have some of those as we have all had this awful cold going round. Take a cotton pad/ball dab your vodka & lemon mix onto your face starting at the neck moving upwards to help refresh and tone up your tired skin. Works wonders and why not have a vodka why you are pampering yourself.

Sleek vs Illamasque

So christmas is passed and we are looking forward, well I am not sure about you lot to a skin break! My skin has decided to have a lovely breakout but my lemon mixture is working wonders.

We have another new product from Sleek Make Up the highstreet brand for young women providing us with some lovely pallets at fantastic prices with in some cases great pigmentation and colour choice (some I find do break up too much but thats me). BUT their latest edition is their Molten Metal Collection has now launched and finally viewable on their website (they so need to sort that out!) these are two new cream eye shadows, Pewter and Gold and Sleek states that they can be used on the cheek bones, lips and also as a highlighter personally not so sure about that for the everyday look maybe when I am hitting the a club or bar or working maybe I will go with a pewter look!

These lovely little numbers have been compard to the amazing brand Illamasque Liquid Metals, personally I can see a difference, Sleek I must admit have impressed me with the depth of colour, the smothness in application and when blending and amazingly they crease...but not as we know it, it is so slight you hardly notice and so easy to rectify in a split sec with your pinky. It will be priced at £6.99 so super resonable like all their other products.

Well done Sleek... I am converted (always loved the lippy personally Vixen being my fav).

We all love glamour and gold optimises glamour, think to all those brands we love they generally have a GOLD collection or gold within their branding.. YSL, Chanel, Burberry and not forgetting gold reflects by the wonderful MAC, gold just has to be once again make a key feature of your make up wardrobe.

I remember when a makeup artist friend of mine was so obsessed with putting gold eye shadow on me for a new look she was trying out, oh my days it was heavenly , I personally live in the traditional black only with occasion MAC reflects Smokey eye adore everything about the Smokey eye, those of you who know me will know my obsession with liner and mascara so adding in gold was like a complete no no for me personally but it was fabulous – she actually was the very makeup artist that inspired me to follow in her footsteps…. so if you have blue eyes, as I do, it totally makes your eyes pop out and is a beautiful enhancement to the traditional Smokey eye, it adds drama and sophistication perfect for this seasons looks.

So…as the clocks go back and with it, we banish our gladiator sandals to the deepest, darkest corners of our wardrobes, it would be easy to let ourselves slip into a state of un-trimmed, un-polished and un-groomed chaos. Thankfully, a small glimmer of hope landed on my desk in the form of Xen Tan (

First impression? I’ll be honest it looks rather alarming; think mushed green lentils and cabbage. However, it smells simply divine - like a particular brand of vanilla corner yoghurt – YUM! If I wasn’t on yet another diet, I’d have been tempted to spread this on a digestive biscuit - despite its dubious colour! It’s a surprisingly scrumptious change to the overpowering chemical smell, which all too frequently wafts past whilst out throwing shapes on a Saturday night (and sometimes when my colleagues walk past me in the office…no need to mention names, you know who you are!)

Tried and tested by my work peers, not to mention a firm favourite amongst Celebrity’s such as Gok Wan, we all agreed that the colour was even although not particularly dark, but then we don’t want to be walking round tanned up like Peter Andre in the “mysterious girl” days, do we?

Easy to apply (no Micky J gloves required) the tan went on smoothly and left my skin feeling moisturized and dewy. Although the bottle states 3-4 hours development time, I didn’t fully appreciate the colour until the next day so would recommend doing this the day before you wish to look bronzed! It lasted approximately 2-3 days before I returned to my normal – Mortitia like – complexion.

Overall…a delightfully fragranced tanner, which I would recommend to most skin types but particularly for pale to medium bodies.

Despite conceiving the idea whilst sipping cocktails round a pool in Ibiza, Maria seriously wanted her customers to have some independent critiques on her products. Glam R. is an ever expanding business and Maria is fantastically driven to provide some supeb products, which is going to make my job a lot harder as I intend to give an honest opinion but with excellent products it may be hard to find fault. If nothing else we can provide good advice on which products will suit each individual…let’s face it you definitely can’t say one size fits all in the world of beauty products!

I fell into my career by accident. Wishing to do something different in my gap year before university (and thoroughly backed by my parents - never ones to conform!) I embarked on a Media make-up course at my local college…never realizing that it would become my ideal job. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic tutor whose insight into the industry spans over 20 years and gave me the chance to interview for one of the UK’s most highly respected commercial model agencies, “Sandra Reynolds”. So I waved goodbye to University and embarked on my professional make-up journey.

Working with some of Norfolk’s leading photographers, ad agencies, art directors and publications has shaped the work I do today, and led me into further training at London’s ‘Greasepaint’ where I was able to work alongside some of the BBC’s chief make-up designers and train in High Definition Airbrushing.

Although the industry can be competitive, and at times hard work, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, there are always new things to study, people to meet, and adventures to embark on! As I always say…“find a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”.
